Golf de Chiberta
Golf de Chiberta is one of only three privately owned clubs in our selection and is about ten minutes from the centre of Biarritz. Designed by the legendary Tom Simpson and quite different in nature from the remainder of our selected courses. Six of the holes run alongside the Atlantic Ocean dunes, with the remaining twelve carved through mature pine trees. A very interesting contrast which will test your skills especially if the wind gets up from the nearby sea whilst you are playing the links holes.
It is certainly one of the most rewarding to play and thanks to the sandy soil under foot … pleasant to walk. The course lost a lot of trees in the parkland section, when severe storms hit the area in February this year, but that does not detract from the overall very enjoyable experience. Apparently the course 
has not changed in style a great deal since its creation, apart from some modifications, thank goodness, but I am sure the cuisine in the clubhouse restaurant has, it’s fantastic! A great selection and good service combined with a very interesting course.

Our opinion
“ Prestigous Chiberta is undeniably great to play, though as a private course, they charge what Green fee they deem appropriate and in our view it can be quite expensive to play compared to the other Biarritz courses, for not a commensurate difference in quality. Not for the high handicapper “
